Milkwood gallery and shop is  nestled between the busy shopping streets of Albany Road and Wellfield Road in Roath, a short walk from Ninian Road and Roath Park. Set in a sprawling converted dairy around a courtyard, Milkwood’s shop houses a mix of contemporary and vintage design, reclaimed furniture waiting for a new lease of life, homeware, stationary, books, toys and clothes.
The gallery and community venue are at the back of the building and play host to Milkwood’s exhibition programme and regular flea market, as well as our workshops and community events.
Owned and run by Helen Gubb and Gail Howard, Milkwood was concieved in the Summer of 2009. Co founders of the MadeinRoath festival, both Helen and Gail come from visual art backgrounds, and have exhibited throughout the UK. A graduate in Fine Art, Helen has extensive experience in community development and the voluntary sector, having worked with the Workers Education Association for many years as well as continuing with her own practice as a painter. Gail has degrees in both Philosophy and Fine Art and has worked as a free lance artist and workshop facilitator since 1997.
‘Milkwood is the manifestation of our collective passions, a place to be both nurtured and enjoyed, providing a multi faceted resource for artists, art lovers and the wider community….’
